Geohashing: Spontaneous adventure generator

Geohashing takes this XKCD comic and runs with it.  The day's date is hashed with the day's opening stock market value to give a random coordinate within an area.  Go there.  Because the stock value is unpredictable, you can't plan ahead.  It might be somewhere awesome.  If you go to the Saturday hash at 4pm, you might bump into other awesome people.

Like most XKCD nerdy-cool handwaving that grew legs, there's a wiki and a Google maps mashup application.  There are even Facebook groups for some (here's Bristol's).

Alas this weekend has the Exeter grid ("graticule")'s geohash in the sea off Dawlish, but the Plymouth grat has a lovely looking one near Tavistock on top of a fine little hill.  Fifty miles out.  Fifty miles back.  Hmmm...  *export location* *import to GE* *plot route avoiding highways*
