Interesting Times

Today two Japanese industrial heavyweights joined up to work on a $21B gigawatt prototype space solar power station.  Crime-scene DNA can be faked from DNA-sequence data, no sample required, just as the government look to push its uberdatase more; if that isn't an excuse to break out "All your base pairs are belong to us" then this is: a hacker looks at the H1N1 virus as code.  It reads like Neal Stephenson getting all expository so enjoy it while getting future-shocked by the University of Washington's progress report on augmented-reality contact lenses or the news that private company SpaceX are contracted to take over supplying the ISS once the Shuttle fleet get mothballed next year.

Interesting times indeed.
