Pink Mastodon!

Just think of all the animals you ever heard about

There are lots of funny animals in all the world
But have you ever seen a mastodon that's pink?
Think!  A mastodon that's positively pink?

The opening drumroll of Mastodon's album Blood Mountain has been niggling since I first heard it.  Now I'm convinced I know why: the Texan math-rockers lifted it wholesale from the opening to the Pink Panther cartoons.  I call Easter egg!

Swap mastodon for panther and indeed you have the opening theme for the Pink Panther cartoons. The one with that crazy-ass car driven by a 6 year old.

Have you heard the new Pendulum album? Is it any good?

I have. T'is tighter and more symphonic. Fewer guest vocalists on tracks like Tarantula so less jarring difference, or on the flipside, more samey. Certainly tight as a gnat's arse. I'll post the ongoing review as I listen (and headbang) at work.
