Ask the flist: What running head torch?

I want to do more running this winter than I did last winter, and that means I'm going to need some illumination -- the gym will kick me out eventually, and I'm rural, and I like running on country roads at night.  Right now I've got two head-torches that aren't up to the job: an old camping one with a regular bulb (man, I feel old) and a tiny emergency one that's ace for emergency repairs / tent fun, but doesn't throw enough of a beam to run freely.

So, what do folks recommend?  I'm looking to run on and offroad in pitch darkness, so powerful light scores more highly than burn time (this isn't for overnighting).  The Petzl Myolite 3 is looking good, so's the CatEye Tora.  Any opinions?  Any other brands to suggest?

I love the little barcodes for tagging body-parts but alas, I already look enough like Tron Guy...

Really? Or have you been hitting the pies and glow-wire? :)

Nah. I'm really in the wilds, and the one car that might pass will be on high-beam and it'll pick out the tons of little bits of reflective that all modern running gear comes with.

A nice man gave me the lowdown on the current crop and has great love for the Black Diamond Icon, so I'm off to test one shortly. Tron Guy, meet Lightsaber[tm] Head.

Powered by 4 AAs? No thanks. The Silva I've got is far too heavy for the amount of light it puts out. I've got a wee cibalite for camping, but it's not got a big enough beam for running.

Dunno what you could use. But let me know how you get on in your quest.

I made the mistake of stopping in a shop on the way home and came out with the blinging Petzl Myo RXP. 3xAAs. Feels good on first test - will take it out later.
