Gah quote of the day

"I'm still making up my mind about global warming"

Are you also making up your mind about gravity?  Science is not a matter of opinion.  Science is doubleplus not a matter of lay opinon.

I've heard the earth is spherical but it just seems wrong.

"global warming" is one thing. But the "science" of carbon taxes and Carbon Credit Trading....?! Reduce Usage. Technology. or Reduce Demand.

Ah now there's the very thing. People dislike the policy options presented for coping (and who can blame them, they're unpalatable) so they automatically deny the situation. It's right up there with "we can't go to war ergo Hitler can't be all that bad" -- damn, I Godwined myself, but the idea is solid.

Policy is full of all sorts of hilarious minefields.

The science has been credible for over a century. Arrhenius laid out the numbers, and subsequent isotope analysis and the many, many hockeysticks confirm it.
