Speed

46 mph.  74 kph.  New fastest-speed-ever on a bike, courtesy of the A39 run into Wells.  The old record had stood since '01.  It is a simple thing, and it makes me smile.  That bike will be stable up to fifty, so I might have to visit [personal profile] skean and try out his mountain descent...

And there was me feeling pleased because I had manager a whole 36mph on the same stretch. To be fair I know my bike handling isn't that good but even so that felt fast enough.

Loon.

If we could now manage something close to that in the water and on the run, we might just have something...

It's a wonderful thing, sounds wonderful.

Do you know what the grade percentage was?

11%, not too steep but on the end of a really good run-out. I need some Continental plummets. Or maybe Scots..?

Nice! I've only ever done a 7%, and it's been a while. The area was fantastic, though, because it was a few miles long, with hills on both sides and a mostly level, mile-long stretch between.

At the top of the loop, there's an old ski-jump they've recently refurbished. I imagine that would be a trip to ride down on a bike...

A junker and a parachute, maybe...

I'm pushing 67kmh on the fastest bit I can find near my house. We need to go find some steeper, longer bits in the Alps proper, without too many walkers, goats or post buses (they have right of way over everything you know)
