Four! Four Lurgies! Bwa-ha-ha!

Setting a new January record, lurgy #4 comes out of the pavilion and gets ready to bat.

There's a catastrophic sense of humour failure taking place over mid-Devon right about now.

Zinc, bee poo, echinacea & goldenseal tincture.

Get to it man!

Look at it this way:

It's a lurgy. A few days rest, stuffing your face man flu style, and then taking it gently (rather than, say, going for a pootle into town for GAS followed THE VERY NEXT DAY by a long run) will see you right as rain.

Try having a back like mine. There's no telling when you'll be flat on your back whimpering or how long it will last when it happens.

You know what I discovered today? There are such things as cervical ribs (I was researching nerve anatomy). Given what that could explain, I might just have to ask the osteo if she can feel any.

[identity profile] andygates.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
There are? I mean, neckribs?

[identity profile] ravenbait.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! There are! It's a congenital defect (1 in every 200 people) causing vestigial ribs to grow from C7. They connect to the proper first rib by fibrous bands that run round the side of the neck. Google 'em!

How cool is that?

I don't remember encountering any while prodding you, not that I was looking. Mutations at both ends of the spine would be something though, eh?

[identity profile] ravenbait.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It's entirely unlikely, however it might explain why I'm always so tender there and why it feels like the muscles are made of bone. Maybe they are!

[identity profile] andygates.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
A one-in-two-hundred chance that you've got a mutation?

I'd bet on that. ;)

The muscles do bend though. I distinctly remember them bending without horrid crunches. Swearing and strange sounds yes, but not crunches.

what Ravenbait said... plus vitamin C and chicken soup. I'd offer to make you some, but I don't think it would ship well. ;)

stop getting sick! You know Freud would say you are doing this to yourself so you don't have to train... or maybe just so you could stay home and explore your complexes in private... ;)

Freud can nob right off. I'm getting really anxious missing all this time. Subterranean Doughboy Blues.

I'm getting really anxious missing all this time.

Trust me. I know EXACTLY how you feel.

[identity profile] teahisme.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
i feel the need to mention at this time that round is a perfectly valid shape!

incidentally look at this horrible tat. Can't you see this poor fellow one night after being out at a bar taking off his shirt with some lovely lady and it totally killing the "mood"

"i feel the need to mention at this time that round is a perfectly valid shape!"

Indeed it is, but it's not what I'm about at the moment.

Longleat 10k in 12 days. You light the incense, I'll get the finger cymbals...

*finds her rain incense, makes an herbal tea*

Oohmmmmmmmmmmmm

you'll be fine. Think of it as being fresh for the race instead of worn out before starting!

This is not a competition I wish to win but you are now beating me by one lurgy.

Suddenly that flu shot looks a whole lot more enticing than dribbling mucus from various orrifices for days or weeks on end...

[identity profile] andygates.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I *had* a flu shot! If I hadn't I'd probably have drowned in mucus by now!
