Gosh

I've never had to lock the comments on a post before.  Please don't make me do it again.

As you wish.

You deleted them as well, it seems.

Bollocks. Bloody new-fangled technology! :)

For future reference: I run Wil Wheaton's rules.

Those are good rules. I'd been reading the thread and didn't think anyone had seriously overstepped the mark, but then it's your thread, not mine, so fair enough.

I just tested the disable comments feature and it does blank them all, which is possibly slightly broken in that it's not "locking" the thread, as such.

Interestingly the comments are still saved - if you re-enable comments by putting the setting back to the journal default, they appear again.

I think you need to freeze the comments thread using the ice cube icon rather than disable it if you want to keep the comments but lock them. More info somewhere on this page.

Ahhh, that makes, um, some sort of sense. Ta!

Are you telling me you don't read Wil Wheaton's blog? Good lord, man, where have you been the past N years?

Spike is right. Wil is, scarily, a good bloke and an insightful funny writer in Matters Of Interest to, well, our demographic.

Are we talking, in regards to rules, the tagline for his blog? or are there more I should read?

I think the tagline is sufficient, personally.

And, as he's pointed out, do you think he liked playing Wesley Crusher as a know-it-all, obnoxious prat? Of course not. Do you think the writers of Next Generation were at all concerned with the opinion of a 15-year-old kid? Of course not.

/me does swift double-take and puts 2 + 2 together.

(I'm still suffering lack of sleep.)

Wesley Crusher is now writing for Family Guy?!
