Turns out you can forget how to shave with a straight razor.

Celebrating my lovely new sink, I indulged in a straight razor.  Yup, it's a young fogey / grooming machismo / Thomas Covenant indulgence and affectation throughout.  It's also trickier than I remembered.  The new-fangled beast has a disposable blade, and is a little lightweight, but it can still slice and dice - I look like the Crimea this morning.

The issue, naturally, is the contours of one's face.  Throat and cheeks are easy; sideburn trimming is a delight; but the chin is a diabolical adventure park of lumps, bumps and differently-grained stubble-growth.  It's also still bleeding.  Last time I did this, I had a goatee, which skipped the chin issue altogether.  I can see that the coming week or two are going to be a steep learning curve.

I'm sure it'll stop bleeding soon.
Oh, for reference: You can shave your head with a straight razor but the occipital crease is difficult and the one time I did it well, I topped an ear.  That bled quite a bit.  And cyclists, really, don't think about doing your legs.  The expanse of flesh dulls a blade quickly and the puckering dread of hamstringing yourself is something I never got over.
