The value of life
Jul. 20th, 2006 12:57 pmThe BBC reports that Bush has vetoed the stem-cell research bill passed by the US Congress. "This bill," said the chimp-in-charge, "would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others. It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect."
This from a man who chooses to start wars and thinks the death penalty is just peachy. Look, I can understand the pro-life thing: every life is sacred and lovely, but isn't it logical then to avoid, say, electrocuting some people or bombing the crap out of some sweet little children in a foreign marketplace or endorsing other countries' assassination-from-the-skies actions?
Alternatively, be pro-red-in-tooth-and-claw, dig war, dig selection pressure, and screw the peasants who don't have your tech. That's realistic, it's honest... oh, but it might make the Little Baby Jesus cry.
Or try to strike a balance and stop wearing that plastic halo, you despicable, hypocritical sack of puke.
