Real 3D projector

From the dodgy-named but cool Japanese tech/culture blog Pink Tentacle comes this rather funky thing. Yup, that's a glowing 3D projection in the air above yonder boffin chappie. The light is created when a bunch of lasers are used to turn the air into a briefly-glowing plasma, which, like phosphor-dots, holds its glow for a little while. No funny gases or smokes, no silly goggles, just honest-to-goodness 3D projection.
At bloody last!
More images and terse blurb from the Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Boffin-tastic, and I look forward eagerly to the first projected advertising and porn in about, oh, four years?
