Get your meaty protein needs in starting the begining of the week. Enjoy a big steak with cream sauce, but only a small side of potatoes. Tuesday/Wednesday ish, a little jog to stretch out and burn up free glycogen. Theory is to empty the energy store, then top it up with fresh.
Let the loading begin on Thursday. Pasta is good, but I get very quickly sick of it. Other good stuff: Grains, pearls, buckwheat, lentils, beans, potatoes, brown rice, nuts. I try and avoid too much lactose. Add in some fibrous veg to keep regular. No curries or other spicy stuff. No alcohol. Lots of water.
Friday night should be a big meal. Saturday should be non stop eating. 3 meals plus snacking on nuts and dried fruit in between. And starting Friday, how about a Carb loading powder? I use this:
And add it to virtually anything: Orange Juice, water, pasta, porridge. Didn`t work so well in tea but that was about it.
In the run up to such things, I tend to feel awful. Unexplained aches and pains, muscle tension, complete lack of energy. Usually it`s driven out by the adrenaline on Sunday morning, but up until that point I have trouble running up a flight of stairs.
