This is just too accurate. Admit it, you've done this too (though I'll bet it wasn't with the innards of a Sturmey-Archer four-speed hub and a tide of zombies).
You lack dimensional warps, young paduan. Imagine if you got sucked into D&D-land like the kids in the cartoon. You'd know, statistically, what to fight and what to flee (or in Spike's case, what to flee and what to *really* flee). You'd be a first-class general.
I was trying to think of a similar situation I've been in - I couldn't really think of one, but it did remind me of this:
My first leather jacket had tassles on it which I duly decorated with chains and other bits of metal. It looked quite girly, but then so did I back then. A girl I was dating at the time had more of a 'manly' jacket with lots of pockets, and one day we swapped. We broke up about a year later but we kept the jackets.
Two years later I was out with two girls I was living with in London and there was hushed conversation going on between them that I correctly interpreted as "I've got girl troubles tonight and am woefully unprepared - can you help?" - enter GirlyGothMan to save the day "Never fear ladies, due to my fascination with alternative culture and ladies leather jackets I have acquired clothing that still contains sanitary products in one of the many pockets - here it is next to the cue chalk and the guitar pick."
They thought it was a bit weird, but they were grateful and they're still good friends 10 years later.
