Cat people: does a brief nuke to warm up cat food make your impossibly picky moggy eat whatever filth you set before her, as it wafts and reeks of tasty goodies?  Or is it just mine..?

It worked for my eldest. Stinks, doesn't it?

Fortunately, I figured out that he'd eat even better if I made him a mixture of cooked chicken or pork with yellow rice in the blender. Didn't smell bad at all, even when warmed, and I could make a big batch and freeze it in individual portions.

It works sometimes for mine.

My vet reckons that just feeding mixed chicken and rice, for example, is not complete enough to feed as a sole diet long term - I was trying this for Saffron when she was throwing up a lot lately. Oz thought the chicken was fantastic, but Saffron decided cat biscuits were preferable.

But maybe rotating with pork does the job?

The vet did mention that we had to rotate proteins, and she asked me to throw a vegetable in there, too. He liked peas and carrots.

Heh :)

I still don't know how she presented me with just the heart. That was freaky.

I found just the liver and a sizeable blood splash stuck to the wall by the phone socket at the weekend, that was attractive.

So what, cats just do this? Pick a random organ, hide the rest of the mouse, and leave it around with some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

There was a single wing feather too, so I was guessing at baby bird. I have no clue what makes one bit not worth eating.

But these remains were still slightly more pleasant than the entire mouse that had been eaten and then vomited up onto my good rug the previous week.
