Is it naughty to photoshop wedding photos to get good ones?  [personal profile] lera took a couple of shots which each had one person looking nice, and a composite of the two looks even better.  It's the photo you'd want to take - maybe not suitable for candid shots, but surely good stuff for a formal event like a wedding?

Here are the originals:

In the first shot, Cat's Mum looks grand and [profile] xeeny is picking his nose; in the second, xeeny is all intently shadowed jawline and Cat's mum has lost the matriarchal majesty with a grin.  But no matter, the power of a quick 'shop job makes a composite of the two:

This was really easy, as the door frame gave a strong key for lining up the two components.  Both were imported into Paintshop Pro as additional layers over a transparent background.  On the [profile] xeeny layer, delete Cat's mum and the bridesmaid and nothing else.  Now adjust that layer's opacity and line it up with the Cat's mum layer using the door frame as your grid.  Finish off with a little extra deleting of coattails where they don't quite line up, then bring all layers to full opacity and crop to a sensible shape.

They never looked that good in real life...

*is impressed, particularly by how the small bridesmaid manages to look utterly photogenic throughout*

Hurrah!

They are also both more in focus which is jolly good.

It's still pretty grainy, which is part resolution and part you not using a flash, I think.

Was it you taking the wooshy outdoors photos?

I often turn the flash off as it does different bad things to the picture.

It was me taking pics outside in the dark, using the EOS Kiss camera that belongs to Cat's cousin and had been brought by her uncle Graeme. Hopefully they won't decide to delete all the funny looking ones before exposing to the public.

That's rather good. I did suggest that we all stand up against the wall individually with one arm cocked (round the invisible man's shoulders) so that someone else could be pasted in later. DIY group photos!

(PS. I don't think [livejournal.com profile] lera is [livejournal.com profile] flitljm)

Oops, that's my bad for thinking flitljm was flitjim and getting it thrown out.

For an encore, I'll 'shop Hugh Grant in the background...
