The possible listing of polar bears on the US Endangered Species Act is an interesting thing. It has to be good for the push to get the US to take global warming seriously. But its very upsetting for those Inuit who have made polar bear hunts (by rich non-Inuit) a major plank of their economy. Its a bit of a double whammy for people who are increasingly affected by climate change anyway. Some sort of alternative livelihoods work required... for excellent writeup
