I've been sick as a dog with a really special sore throat - the kind that has me whimpering like a kicked puppy every time I swallow - the last few days.  The fever and skeleton-splints (like shin-splints, but everywhere) broke yesterday evening -- happy happy joy joy -- but I still have so much pain swallowing that it's not funny.  All the regular stuff hasn't touched it, so it's time to resort to Down-Home Old-Timey Internet Recipes: Cayenne gargle.  Wish me luck.

you sure you dont' have strep throat? white mank growing in the back of your mouth/throat? I'd suggest having a GP shine a light in there for a 2 second check. It isn't the sort of thing you should let go if that is what it is.

Advice seconded.

I made the mistake of painkillering this a couple of years ago - so of course in the daytime all seemed well but when the drugs wore off in the middle of the night it was agony (and then I discovered I'd become rather allergic to penicillin, but let's not go there).

Advice noted: if it doesn't shift over the weekend, I'll get the sawbones to take a peek. :)

You know, I didn't dare. Just sat around grumbling psychically at the cat until it started to get better. But for next time...
