Well, the results are in and I've finally stopped eating: 1:32:56, so a 1:30 target for next time is well in view.

15:00 for the swim - ha! - right in the bottom of the field. Plenty of room for improvement. No surprises there - I ought to be able to take two minutes off that by just not stopping ;)

42:30 for the bike, which is about midway up the field. I shouldn't feel disappointed at that - it includes both of my wooly transitions and the field is pretty tight with only 30 seconds for the next fifty places. Conclusion: transition matters ;) Also: I was so beasted in the swim that it slows my T1. Lessons learned.

And gods, 35:26 for the run, which is slow even for my regular training pace. Sorry, Xeeny, to attach your name to such a feeble run time. More water, longer strides, more bricks. And happy brainworms!

Overall position? 229 out of 278, around the 80th percentile. Matches my half-marathons, but doesn't get me too excited. That was a "set a base" tri. Now to work on those times!

500m swim, 20km bike and 5 km run I believe.

Yup. Fastest finisher on the day was just under the hour - despite the pan-flat bike course, it wasn't a fast day 'cos of that evil run. And gods, that run was SLOW.

How's you guys' training - skean, you done any bricks yet?

An hour? Thats...fast.

Whats a brick?

I am having trouble at the moment with horrendous hayfever that has affected my eyes really badly - chlorine is a definite no-no, so swimming is lacking a bit.

I've been cr*p about following a plan too. I seem to be just going out and running, biking and swimming as the feeling takes me. Plus, I haven't done enough endurance work to keep my CV fitness up.

So, not too well I'd have to say. Got 2 weeks till the Zuri tri, including 1 weekend in UK. Then a weeks holiday, and 4 weeks to London, including at least 1 weekend away.

I am having to find time in the mornings to get a lot of stuff in which kills.

The hayfever is evil right now, isn't it?

A brick is two disciplines back-to-back. Specifically, it's bike-run, so you'd go out and ride 10k then get off, change shoes and immediately run 2k. It's intended to get you into slick transitions and a feel for your post-bike run (I need to do these lots!). I like swim-bike bricks - swim, then ride to work hard. Easy with tri shorts ;)

Still, I wouldn't worry. You guys are fit. You'll be fine. It's just a big dark lake...
