This is the response to a recent survey, the question being, 'do you agree with the statement, "human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures"?'  ("pubishers" = publishing scientists)

See that big spike in "no"?

That's the uneducated masses voting with their guts.

That's why democracy isn't enough to save the day.  Nearly half of these respondents are as dumb as rocks.  And they vote.

The general public probably didn't understand the question. They probably thought it meant them, personally.

I deal with these people every day. It's depressing.

"If you want my opinion..."
"I don't! It's uninformed rubbish, you reeking peasant! Shut up! SHUT UP!!!"

*splatsplatsquelchsplat*

...and so on. Mind you, there were probably campaigns against the evils of underground sewers, and there still are about vaccination. Wells was wrong. It's Morlocks, Eloi, and Joe Sixpack.

You are too negative.
almost 20% of non-climatolgist scientists (non-publishers/non-climatologists) didn't say Yes. And I'm assuming those people are about as intellegent as the climatologists on average, just specialising in other subjects.
So 20% of intellegent, well read scientists didn't say Yes, and 40% of the general public didn't say Yes.

And where was this study taken? In the USA, where their main politicians refused to accept that statement until very recently.
Don't be too down on the public. So most aren't as widely read as Scientists whose job it is to be well read on scientific matters, but that's hardly a surprise.

97% of climatologists agreed with a statement that would see the funding to their chosen specialist subject raise dramatically if properly accepted by the politicians.

C'mon, you're better than to use this sort of strawman. ;)

It was a US survey, which, I fear, shows how the political polarization contaminates hte rest of the worldview.

Reality-based community for the win.
