Here's the scenario: you've just filmed some explosive footage that absolutely must get into the public domain. The goons head over, planning to strip your toys and erase everything. The cell and wireless are down - possibly because of the goons, possibly because of simple overloading.
Modern cameras use tiny, plastic-encased slivers of memory. They're easily concealed, but goons can strip-search you. Noes! The only way left is to exploit the crevices of your body. The goons have a battleaxe with rubber gloves and a desensitized squick gland, so it's no good stuffing that memory card up your arse. Only one thing left: swallow it!
(Micro-SD is probably the card of choice, as the resemblance regular SD-cards have to Communion wafers is purely superficial - they'd hurt on the way through, surely? Luckily most little cards can be fitted with dirt-cheap big-card adapters for throwbacks like me)
So, you've got a plastic-encased silicon chip with gold contacts swilling around in a stew of acid and friendly bacteria. Tomorrow morning, will the data be recoverable?
