The stats are in. 92nd out of 151 finishers, an astonishing (for me) 40th percentile. Stoked indeed. As for the breakdown:
Swim: 7:55. Ah, that will explain it. That's a whole minute faster than my usual time, I must have gotten race-silly and just muscled off like a madman, which is why I kept burning out and having to pause, and why I ran so hot. And why I swam up some folks' arses.
T1: 2:25 including lots of stupidity. Factor out the brainfart and that would have been ace. I figure I lost 45 seconds missing my bike and another 20 fussing a new number belt (yeah, yeah).
The bike and T2 times didn't get separated, but they total 49:12 for 24km, 29.3 km/h average (18.2 mph). With the gusty winds, shoe malf and T2 rolled into that, I'm darn pleased. Closing in on doing one of these races at evens!
Run: 22:11. 78th percentile, which is at the good end of my usual range. A little more pie-deprivation ought to drag that into the 75th one day.
So, first race and it looks like excitement made for both great times and silly mistakes. Now to try to balance it so that the performance is good and the mistakes are absent! 40th percentile without it being a granny race. Still stoked. Munky breaks out of the fun-runners.
