Vile Nazi twunt Nick Griffin has been egged when trying to hold a press conference.

Good.

This isn't about democracy or him being properly elected.  He's just  vile racist cretin who deserves to be hounded mercilessly until he has a lovely public nervous breakdown and ends up at the Priory next to that singing woman and some druggy celebs.

I mean, really, this is the public face of people who think that Lenny Henry, Freema Agyeman, Zeinab Badawi and Gok Wan are bad and need to be kicked off this sceptered isle for not being British enough.  Lenny's a Brummie!  Freema grew up in Hackney! Zeinab's dead posh and Gok's a Leicester boy. 

So let's be absolutely clear: Griffin's the figurehead of people as foul, disruptive and stupid as Fred Phelps.  That's a very special, very elite shitlist.  These are the very zenith of putrid idiocy.  Phelps, you'll recall, was barred from coming to the UK on public order grounds: so many people think he needs a slapping that the mere hint of his feculent stench provokes breach of the peace.  Let's hope the same applies to  Griffin. 

And if you hear of him coming to Devon to speak, please let me know.  I have an omelette that needs making.

And I love how the people I've spoken to who disapprove of egging are white, straight, and usually male. I work with the first group of people he wants to eradicate, and I'm a member of the second. Cos they don't like gayers. Yeah, there's a bit of "first they came..." to it, and their hypocrisy stinketh verily. Always has done.

The worst is that the "white britain" they hanker after's a silly fantasy - it's like the new agers who want to "bring the magic back". Never trust a politican who harks back to a Golden Age: they are at best romantics, and at worst, Hitler. This lot just have Miss Marple and cricket on the green instead of volksschlepping and lederhosen.

Scared people will grasp at anything reassuring, and Golden Age fantasies are very reassuring (wotwot empire pennyfarthing wotwot - but we know it's ironic and silly). The mainstream parties need to address the fear, because that is the root emotion that drives the far right and as an emotion, it's real.

Part of me is frothing because I'm angry at not decking that horrid little skinhead thug on the tube. My excuse is that I was post-FNRTTC and too English to Make A Scene, but it vexes.

The whole "Indigenous" thing narks me right off. What the hell is an Indigenous Briton? Someone who happened to be here when at some unspecified point in time in the past when the seasonal floodings became non seasonal and the last bit of the delta that became the channel was permanently wet? How differentiated are they from their mate who was on the other side of the stream, or decided not to get their feet wet that day?

It's a standard that does not bear close scrutiny, mostly because it is revealed to either be absurdly arbitrary, or fictional, or just racist.

Arbitrary: "Your grandparents must have been born here"

Fictional: "Like it was in 1948" - the BNP's barely-coded phrase meaning "before the Windrush came and unloaded all those darkies" but spun to sound like it was all Vicarage tea parties and good ol' blokes back then.

Racist: Well, anything using the word "white", let's face it.

It's a pity the press couldn't collectively refuse to deal with him. The thought of him exercising his democratic right to free speech to an audience of nobody would be more satisfying still.

Make no mistake though. Of the people that voted in that EU election, 1 in every 16 voted for racists who believe in inequality based upon skin colour. It isn't an immigration thing as they will fondly point out since they seem to be happier with white immigrants than they are with nth generation brown or black brits. It's purely 'cos they are racists, and that makes them pariahs.

I would like to think that the 1 in 16 did it out of stupidity not hatred. This is the nation of Big Brother and Peter Andre and wotserface so it is possible. If they did it from hatred then that's really sad.

On a lighter note, I wonder if my obviously foreign name would overrule my very white skin? No? Thought not...
