Okay chaps, time for your kit brains to spool up.  This LEJOG is an excuse for a kit refresh, and one thing I still don't have are some Heroic Adventure Trousers.  Combats are all well good but are heavy, bulky and slow-drying.  The cargo hotpants I got in Tignes aren't safe outside France!  Time for some small-packing quick-drying hardwearing versatile off-bike trousers.  Are Rohan worth the wedge?  How about the other name brands, Craghopper and the like?  What about high-street stuff?  Your wisdom is needed, as my trewcunning is close to nil.

Not Columbia. I destroyed a pair of their trews in three days. Admittedly I was paragliding, but I didn't think they were any good.

I bought a pair of trousers by The North Face a few years back. They are very light, almost windproof and quick drying. They are comfy and well featured too with deep main pockets (I am always amazed by how many pairs of trousers fail on this front) and lots of other pockets which can be sealed up for safety.
I couldn't tell you what model they were and they have almost certainly moved on to whatever this seasons equivalent is by now anyway. But I got them cheap in a sale. They only cost me about £30.

We both rate Rohan (their stuff is expensive but last for ages - I have some t-shirts I've been using since I started cycling again, nearly eight years ago. The printing looks pretty crap but the material is still fine)
Tend to get it at the shop in Clark's Village in Street. Ends of lines, seconds, that sort of thing.

I have found that the older Rohan stuff lasts longer than the more recent stuff. Ebay sometimes helps.
