Anyone who can shut down the centre of Boston with a few dumb illuminated signs wins my respect.  It seems that Bostonians come pre-terrorised these days. 

Look out!  It's a... little cube thing flipping the bird!  Better panic!

Ah, but as it mentions in the CNN.com article, if it's a hoax, it's a felony, and that way the propellorheads in Boston can send people to jail for making them look like hysterical lunatics in front of a national audience.

It's a pity that the bad PR will almost certainly stop Cartoon Network from marketing them. I think a black shirt, with "Hey, Boston..." on the front and the bird-flipping mooninite, made of white circles just like on the signs, on the back.

Also, a one-sided shirt with the same picture of the mooninite and the message "I shut down Boston."

And, naturally, a minimalist shirt with just the mooninite.

You're absolutely right in your analysis. The inability of the powers that be to say "uh, whoops. Our bad!" is unsurprising but sad.

You know, I've never even heard of mooninites until now. Mind you, I always rooted for Meatwad.

And apropos of nothing, technical sludgecore (I love that term!) band Mastodon did a track for the ATHF movie.
