Beautiful countryside and a marvelous little lake daintily set among rolling Exmoor hills.  Yeah, that's hilly.  Second time round, those chevrons (14%+ climbs) are going to be mental challenges.  The climb out of T1 isn't half the ogre it looks; the descent to point 5 is a cliff; signs to Morebath may be repainted to read Morepain by the day of the event.

I'll be truing wheels, making coffee and chilling coldpacks in the van fridge.

Just popping over to skean's to compare it to Rapperswill, hm'kay?  :)

I thought you were doing an Oly this year, not a half iron?

I'm not doing a bloody half iron! The ride fit into my schedule and the race is on friends' calendars; I'm making the tea at Wimbleball, oh yes. 2-3 hours for an Oly is a push, a hard effort. I can train for and enjoy that. Over 4h, unless it's at leisure pace, will probably become a gruel and that's not my bag.

C'mon, 2-3h is a jump from single-rep deadlifts ;)

If and only if I have a storming el stormissimo von stormowich season will I even consider a half-iron, and that's a decision for late summer.

The half iron is my fault. And frankly I'm going to get some bugger to iron Exmoor before I consider another one there but I've paid now so I ain't really backing out.

I've done some more analysis of the Rapperswil HIM here. Pretty sure its not as vertiginous as Wimbleball - its only got 2 climbs per lap to your 3 by the looks of things. Could be a lot hotter though, which would be a pain.
