Ankle woes

Bah, my ankles are shot. More accurately, the little strappy tendons that run along the insides of my legs from ankle to mid-shin are shot. Proximal tibialis? Something like that. This means that (1) my gait sucks and needs correcting (2) no running til they're better, which I thought was today but -ouch- clearly isn't (3) I now have serious concerns about getting in enough mileage before the GWR. Bah.

You got good shoes?

I got lovely shoes, Saucony Grid Stabils, for heavy pronators. Got them for last year's GWR but back then I was heelstriking, and I've been trying not to heelstrike this year. The slappig sound and jauncing lard is a bit embarassing once you notice it and people could hear me coming a mile away... Which leads me to some options:

1) The shoes that were good for heelstriking aren't good for forefoot striking. Remedy: rest up and go shopping.

2) My idea of forefoot striking is off, particularly that I might be more tiptoe-striking. Remedy: rest up and find a guru.

3) I just need to condition some different muscles. Remedy: suck it up and stop whining, Private Pyle!

4) The shoes are thrashed. I don't think so, 'cos I hardly ran at all between last May and Chrimbo.

Bah, that sounds very frustrating*. Hope your tendons get fit & healthy again soon - and that you figure out how to prevent it happening again.

*Still missing loads of aerial classes due to back-muscle pullage, so really can sympathise with this.
